A trade source said, “Baipan Bhari Deva was released in around 340-350 screens yesterday. Today, it is expected to be more than 400 and the number can go higher in the days to come. Many multiplexes had accommodated the shows on smaller screens on the release day. From today, the film has been shifted to the bigger auditoriums, looking at the heavy demand. On top of it, the word of mouth is very positive and this will translate into a huge box office total.”

To give a fair idea of the film’s growth, we went through the data of MovieMax multiplex chain, which has 12 out of 16 multiplexes in Maharashtra. On Friday, Baipan Bhari Deva played in 41 shows across these 12 cinemas. On Saturday, the number of shows increased to 56.

And that’s not all. On the release day, Baipan Bhari Deva collected Rs. 7.22 lakhs in this multiplex chain. Today, the film collected more than that – Rs. 7.86 lakhs – that too by 11:00 am.

Manoj Desai, executive director, G7 multiplex and Maratha Mandir Cinema, who didn’t screen Baipan Bhari Deva on Friday has decided to release the film from tonight at Gaiety-Galaxy after learning about the response. He exclusively told Bollywood Hungama, “Today, we’ll have one evening show in Gossip cinema and from tomorrow, we’ll play two shows of the film.”

In order to accommodate Baipan Bhari Deva in more shows, the shows of other films had to be reduced. The trade source revealed, “The shows of holdover releases like Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Adipurush have been reduced and replaced with the Marathi film. Even the new release, Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, which has underperformed, has seen a reduction in shows. The shows of Satyaprem Ki Katha have also been brought down but not so much. The exhibitors feel it has a chance to score in the weekend as the word of mouth is positive.”

Devang Sampat, CEO, Cinepolis India said, “For Marathi films, usually the second-week collections are similar to the first-week collections. Also, the weekdays can be very strong. The same happened with Ved (2022) and it can also happen with Baipan Bhari Deva as it is enjoying a positive word of mouth.”

Ved, starring Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh, collected more than Rs. 50 crores at the box office. Although it’s too early to predict, the experts are not ruling out the possibility of Baipan Bhari Deva emerging as a blockbuster. Devang Sampat stated, “I won’t be surprised if it crosses the Rs. 50 crore net mark at the box office.”

Baipan Bhari Deva is the story of six estranged sisters who are forced to come together for a competition. It is directed by Kedar Shinde and produced by Jio Studios.

Meanwhile, up North, another regional film, Carry On Jatta 3, is creating waves. The Punjabi comic caper is expected to earn Rs. 15 crores plus in its extended four-day weekend and thus set a new record. The trade source said, “Carry On Jatta 3 was expected to be a sure-shot blockbuster. But it’s Baipan Bhari Deva that has been a true surprise of the season.”
